Pokken Tournament Revealed For Japan

    pokken.

Last week it was revealed that Japanese Monthly Famitsu would be making a shocking announcement. Said announcement has today been made in the form of Pokken Tournament, a fighting game closely related to the Tekken series.

The game is being handled by Bandai Namco and has involvement from Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada. Currently the game has only been confirmed for Japan where it will be released next year as an arcade game, but hopefully a port to the Wii U or 3DS isn't out of the question if the game ever makes it outside of Japan.

The president of the Pokémon Company was asked a question by viewers about why they decided to do an arcade game, his answer made it sounds as though the intention is to have it in arcades first and then release it on console after awhile. Oddly enough the official Pokémon YouTube channel for outside of Japan has also put up a trailer for the game, so chances are that pretty much confirms it has a future outside of Japan at some point. Said trailer can be found above.

Yay! I was right! ^w^ This would make a great Wii U title.

Trapinch me I must be dreaming! Pokémon finally making a game under my favorite genre!? Suffice to say I'm really excited about this!!

We've always wanted a game where Pokémon battles could be depicted being as epic as we imagine them, and this game is a start! Bit of a shame that it'll be for Japanese Arcades for a while. But hopefully that's just a hoppip, skiploom and a jumpluff to being ported to consoles!

I wonder what kind of roster this game will have. So far we've only seen Fighting types, so i hope that they'll give some other Pokémon a shot. Gardevoir and Cincinno would be cool.

I look forward to this game getting ported, hopefully to the 3DS as I am without a Wii U for the time being. It looks like it'll be quite enjoyable. I kinda hope that the roster will contain every fully evolved Pokémon since I doubt they'll give us all 721 Pokémon outside of another Stadium/Colosseum/Revolution type game. If it ends up being just Fighting-types though, no complaints from me.

The trailer has me wondering though, if Mega Lucario is supposed to be a Super Mode of sorts, will the other combatants also get new Mega Evolutions or will they get some other Super Mode to compensate to keep the game balanced?

I bet this will definitely get enough people talking to get this game brought to home consoles (and possibly the 3ds, like smash is), and possibly over seas.

This seems like such a better idea than their Pokémon-chip game they have in Japan at the moment, so it'll definitely stir up people!

And if it DOES come out to the americas- I hope theres chesnaught. @W@

This interests me greatly! It looks really, really cool. My only disappointment will be that the roster will obviously be somewhat limited, and we'll assume mostly likely to Fighting Types, or at least Pokémon with obvious punch/kick capabilities. Still, I can't wait to see/hear more about this game! :)

Mmmmm... I need to get a first-class flyer ticket straight to Japan.

I would gladly pay whatever price they ask to get the chance to play this game. I've always loved fighter games such as Super Smash Bros., Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, ect., so this definitely peaks my interest.

Also considering I've played Pokémon Type-Wild, (which is a game that is similar to what was shown in the video, only with 2D sprites) I would absolutely LOVE to play an official Nintendo game that is similar to one of my favorite Pokémon Fan Games of all time!

Of course, Pokémon Reborn will always hold a special place in my "Favorite Fan-Made Games" section of my heart...

    Freaking out here!
I had a slight feeling Namco was in this somewhere. I mean Namco does nico nico live streams all the time with their games.
I hope this does good in japan.

Wow, those graphics took a big leap for Game Freak and HAL and will certainly increase the popularity for the Bandai Namco. Like most people here, I would love to see this title come to the North American region and I would also love to see this become a Wii U and 3DS title.
